The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Motor Risk Consultant to join our Casualty Practice, working at the forefront of motor fleet risk management. This role will help us strengthen and scale our motor risk proposition at a key point in the development of the UK Casualty practice.

This is a high-impact consulting role, supporting complex, multi-vehicle and high-exposure fleets across a broad range of sectors. You will carry out motor risk evaluations, design and deliver client training on key road risk topics, and provide broader consultancy support that helps customers reduce losses, improve risk maturity and evidence the value of better fleet risk management.

You will work closely with client stakeholders, brokers, underwriters and claims colleagues, helping customers reduce motor losses, improve driver and road safety performance, and strengthen their overall motor risk profile.

You will enjoy a high level of autonomy, a varied and intellectually engaging portfolio, and the backing of a well-established, respected insurance risk consulting team. To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing environment, and you will be expected to generate and deliver against agreed revenue targets.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing

  • Conduct motor-focused risk assessments, site visits and reviews of fleet management systems and processes.
  • Evaluate controls and governance for motor exposures (including driver, vehicle and operational risk) and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Produce high-quality written reports and insights for clients, brokers and underwriters.
  • Design and deliver engaging training and workshops on key road risk topics to support clients’ loss prevention and driver safety programmes.
  • Deliver professional motor fleet and road risk consultancy services.
  • Interpret emerging motor and road safety risks, legislation and industry trends, and translate them into clear guidance for customers.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, brokers and internal teams to embed a positive, sustainable road safety and risk management culture.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and internal forums, sharing technical insights and promoting Zurich’s motor risk capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable motor risk propositions, drawing insight from client assignments, claims themes and fleet risk trends to improve how we scope, deliver and evidence value.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in motor fleet risk management and consultancy, including conducting motor risk assessments and reviewing fleet management systems and processes.
  • Strong ability to evaluate motor exposures (driver, vehicle and operational) and provide clear, practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Experience producing high-quality written reports and delivering management and/or driver training and workshops on a range of road risk topics.
  • Commercial awareness, with confidence contributing to well-scoped consultancy opportunities and working to agreed revenue, utilisation or performance targets.

Additional desirable experience

  • Experience of working with police fleets.
  • Qualification at master’s level in a driving psychology–related field.
  • Experience of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) and/or other driver diversion schemes.
  • Formal qualification in health and safety (e.g. Diploma/NEBOSH General Certificate).

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to turn data and observations into practical risk improvement actions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Confident presenter and facilitator, able to design and deliver engaging training for varied audiences.
  • Proactive self-starter who is well-organised, resilient and thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.

Why Join Us?

You’ll enjoy the autonomy to manage your own portfolio and diary, with exposure to complex, high-value casualty risks that will continue to build your technical capability. We invest strongly in training and career development, supported by a high-performing consulting community that values collaboration and shared expertise. You’ll benefit from genuine flexibility and a strong focus on wellbeing, along with the opportunity to help shape and grow a leading Motor and Casualty Risk Consulting proposition as the practice scales its capabilities for customers, brokers, underwriters and claims colleagues.
